Grolar Bears is a unique and ambitious nine-piece original symphonic funk band. For their last record, 2012's COS: The Original Motion Picture Score, they created a sweeping soundtrack to a fictitious 70's exploitation film. COS was hailed by Hymie's Vintage Records as one of the best records of the year, calling it "a genuine recreation of a sound and an era in cinematic and pop music history." Their summer has seen them perfecting their live show with sets at First Avenue's Mainroom and several festivals.
Their new single "Midnight Stew" is a burning strutter, steeped in funk history, backed with an instrumental version on the B-side. It makes one want to walk up a crowded sidewalk with hands in pockets staring straight ahead with an intent gaze and a sly, subtle smile.
